What is Technical Illustration?

Technical illustration visually communicates information regarding technical topics to non technical audiences.

Technical illustrations include isometric and perspective drawings often derived from two dimensional drafting or CAD drawings. Technical illustrations may display cutaways, callouts, charts, diagrams and detail views.

Many people encounter technical illustrations in user manuals, assembly drawings or educational articles.

WebGL Lighting: Vector Diagram

The Vector Diagram illustrates the process behind a simple GLSL lighting shader with WebGL.

The subtraction vector is the difference between the vertex vector, or normal, and the angle of light. The dot product returns a value between 0.0 and 1.0. Multiply a mesh's color by the dot product value to render lighting. Values closer to zero are darker. Values closer to one are brighter.
