Oil Paint on Canvas - Prayer
The Prayer
painting's dedicated to a rollover accident on the highway.
I prayed for protection just as the truck rolled, and God answered my prayer.
The vehicle stopped upside down. I put my hand on the roof before releasing the
seat belt to drop down.
The truck was damaged, totalled, however I was fine.

Dedicated to Rollover Accident
Details
The sign in the background on the brick wall, to the right,
reads Turning Point
.
Turning Point
has two meanings.
First it's time to turn to God.
Second the truck turned upside down.
A person pushes up the blinds and looks out the window, to the left, to see what happened.
The frame, seats, windows, doors, steering wheel and visors have uneven, assymetrical shapes.
Preparation
A charcoal drawing, on a large sheet of drawing paper, was used for this painting's layout. This painting was prepared in response to an assignment. In the assignment the artist could look at their references while drawing, but not at the paper and charcoal.
I had a set of photos from the interior of the vehicle after the accident. I looked at various photographs for reference, while drawing. I only looked at the drawing paper, when picking up and setting down the charcoal. The resulting drawing formed uneven, irregular edges for almost every object.
The process was perfect in that everything's a little warped in shape. Irregular shapes lend to the sense of a totalled vehicle
Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
(Psalm 107:28 KJV)
Traditional Paintings
Sometimes traditional media provides the look that captures attention more than any other. Traditional paintings created with oil paint, airbrush, gouache and watercolor uniquely express concepts. See a range of styles from nearly photorealistic art to soft airbrushed impressions and glossy technical illustration.
