About the Graphics

The original graphics were prepared with Adobe Illustrator An FBI crime statistic CSV file was uploaded to a MySQL database. Python, JavaScript and MySQL connections fill states with color based on your selections.

Colors
The color legend indicates the level of crime, based on color.
Colors indicate the rate of crime per state. The redder the color, the higher the crime rate. The bluer the color, the lower the crime rate. States fill with color based on crime rates from a MySQL table.
