Rendering with 3ds Max
Design Details
The model, maps, lighting and perspective were prepared almost exclusively with 3ds Max. I try to minimize Photoshop modifications. Often the more that's done in Photoshop, the less an image looks three dimensional.
Reeds were rendered with a displacement map. The clouds created with volume fog. The water displays subtle waves. A 3D wave map's applied for opacity. Opacity in the waves, allows you to see the bottom of the stream through the water.
